It is one of the specialties of dentistry where treatment is provided on inpatient and outpatient basis. It not only deals with oral cavity but also entire face. Students get enriched with knowledge and clinical management of various problems and also have the opportunity to present papers and posters in the conferences. Also conducts workshops and social awareness programmes.

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was set up in the year 2006 and in the year 2012, the postgraduate training programme in oral and maxillofacial surgery has begun.
The department provides complete range of minor oral surgical treatments and most of the speciality care services to the patient. We are constantly endeavoring to upgrade our speciality care by promoting quality treatment of oral pathology, orthognathic surgeries, facial traumatology, facial reconstruction including cleft lip and palate, TMJ disorders and oral implantology. Treatment Offered
Extraction
  • Impaction-surgical removal of impacted teeth (for example removal of wisdom tooth).

  • Implantology.

  • Trauma-dentoalveolar fracture-splinting, closed reduction, open reduction and internal fixation (through intra oral and extra oral approach).

  • Cysts and tumours –biopsy, enucleation, marsuplisatIion, resection and reconstruction of the defect.

  • Orthognathic surgery –maxillary and mandibular osteotomy procedures.

  • TMJ ankylosis– condylectomy, coronoidectomy, eminectomy and interpositional arthroplasty.

  • OSMF – excision of fibrous bands and grafting.

  • Cleft lip and palate – primary and secondary lip, nose, palate alveolus repair.

  • Space infection – incision and drainage under antibiotic coverage.

  • Preprosthetic surgery – alveoloplasty, vestibuloplasty and ridge augmentation.

  • Oro antral fistula – excision of the tract and closure achieving using various flaps.
